It will take a landslide victory to hold back the red tide. Otherwise the fiasc will be sent to the Supreme Court to settle as it was in the Bush vs. Gore battle. The real conundrum would occurr if Justice Ginsburg departs before the election is settled. We will have a Constitutional crisis that will make the pandemic seem like a mere prop on the stage of American History.
